Preparation of MAFSU perspective plan document : Vision 2025
The Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University is an
infant University started functioning from 3rd December
2000 i.e. about 3 years ago. The University is patterned on the state
agricultural universities. The constituent colleges, research
stations and extension education centers are required to integrate
teaching, research and extension activities. As stated in the
preamble, when these segments were parts of the agricultural
universities their development was lagged behind due to lack of
perspective plans and capacity building, in the form of human
resource development. The research infrastructure also lagged behind
a great deal. Hence, it was thought necessary to prepare a
comprehensive perspective plan, VISION 2025, document that
could define long-term strategic policies and programs so as to
propel the University in growth of science and technology. Moreover,
such an activity is mandatory as provided in the University Statutes
2001.
The first Vice Chancellor initiated the efforts for preparation
of MAFSU perspective plan called VISION 2025 document with a
view to chart out the road map of development of this infant
University, keeping in view the concerns, issues and problems of
livestock farmers and fast changing developments and emerging
challenges in the wake of new global economic order, the needs of the
livestock farmers and protection of environment. This necessitates to
bring about reform in our animal sciences education as it holds key
to churn out a new breed of professionals who are job creators with
appreciation of human value and dignity.
