Establishment of headquarters of the University
The University headquarters was started in the old
veterinary college building on the Seminary Hills after suitable
modification and alteration in the existing structure with modern
furniture, computers and audio-visual facilities as well as
conference room.

Simultaneously, the offices of Vice Chancellor,
Registrar, Deans, Directors, Comptroller, Controller of Examinations,
Students Welfare Officer and other office bearers were established to
ensure smooth functioning of the University, although the additional
charges of the posts of Director of Research and Director of
Extension Education were with the Vice Chancellor till August 2003.
All these additional duties were also discharged very effectively.
Dr. Deepak Mhaisekar, a veterinarian and chief executive officer, was
appointed as first Registrar of the University.
Dr. R.J. Kukde and Dr. R.S. Sarode were given additional charge of the
posts of Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science.and Dean, Facutly of
Dairy Technology, respectively.
Dr. S.D. Harne was given additional charge of the post of Dean, Faculty
of Lower Veterinary Education.
Dr. S.V. Deshmukh was appointed as first Controller of Examinations of
the University with creation of separate examination cell.
For construction of new administrative building of the University,
Library, Guest Hose and staff quarters, an amount of Rs. 96.00 lakhs
was sanctioned during 2000-2001 and the building plans alongwith
drawings have already been submitted to the government for
administrative approval.
The University with approval of the Executive Council started a Camp
Office in the premises of Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai, as well
as, a Liaison Office Cell at Mantralaya, Mumbai for persuasion and
follow-up of various grant-in-aids and other proposals submitted to
the various departments of Government of Maharashtra by the
University.
