Transfer of constituent colleges and institutes from the Agricultural Universities

The efforts were initiated by appointing a special task force to pursue with the Departments of Agriculture and ADF in the Government of Maharashtra for immediate transfer of constituent veterinary and dairy technology colleges and affiliated institutes along with staff, properties and funds from the four agricultural universities. As a result, a Government Resolution was passed and issued by the Department of Agriculture that effectively transferred the following colleges and institutes from 2nd July 2001.

  • Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur.

  • Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai.

  • College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Parbhani.

  • College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Udgir, Dist. Latur.

  • K.N.P. College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Shirval, Dist. Satara.

  • College of Dairy Technology, Varud, Pusad, Dist. Yeotmal.

  • Post-Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Akola.

Instructional Livestock Farms -

  • Cattle Breeding Farm, Nagpur.

  • Cattle Breeding Farm, Borgaon Manju, Akola.

  • Cattle Breeding Farm, Igatpuri, Dist. Nasik.

  • Deoni Cattle Breeding Farm, Udgir, Dist. Latur.

A total of 996 staff positions in various categories has been transferred to the new University. On transfer of the constituent college along with the staff members in various categories from the four agricultural universities in four regions, the new task of preparing category-wise state level seniority list for ensuring effective amalgamation was undertaken. The work of allocation of these posts to various statutory reserved categories was undertaken on a priority basis. This problem was further made complicated and compounded due to insistence of the state government to carry out review and assessment of the staff position and their relevance for restructuring especially in the context of financial crunch and office self-automation. A task committee was appointed for the purpose. Simultaneously, the state government was moved to allow the University to fill up the vacant posts. Finally the state government yielded and action for filling the vacant posts was initiated in a phased manner.
