Provision of staff and financial assistance to the University headquarters
The Government of Maharashtra has
sanctioned 89 posts to man the University headquarters, of which 56
posts, on persuasion, has been released. These were filled by
deputation of staff from other departments of the state government or
by transfer or temporary promotion of experienced staff of the
colleges. However, having regard to the total volume of the
administrative and financial workload of this state level University
it is difficult to cope up the same with merely 56 posts. The
Government as well as the Chancellor's office has been requested to
permit filling of these posts either by sanctioning new posts or
transferring the excess staff from the four agricultural universities
as these universities now have reduced their workload due to transfer
of faculties of veterinary science and dairy technology.
In response to these pleas, the Hon'ble
Chancellor has directed the state government to appoint committee
under the chairmanship of Addl. Chief Secretary, Government of
Maharashtra. The last meeting of the committee was held on 3rd
October 2003 wherein the matter was pursued that has now culminated
in a favorable decision. The efforts were made for allocation of
separate budgetary head for the University. The state government
sanctioned Rs. 2.80 crores during the financial year 2000-2001
including Rs. 96.00 lakhs for construction of new administrative
building of the University, library, guest house and staff quarters,
while in the financial year 2001-02 Rs. 48.00 lakhs have been
sanctioned under plan scheme for the state government is experiencing
financial crunch very much these days.
